DRIVER, REGULAR PART-TIME

EXTERNAL/INTERNAL POSTING, COMPETITION #2016-12

 

 

 

Salary Range:                        $16.91/hour - $17.65/hour

Location:                               Leeds and Grenville

Job Type:                              Part-Time, minimum 15 hours per week

Shifts:                                     Variable Shifts including days, evenings and weekends (A compressed work schedule is not an option)

Reports to:                           Manager, Clinical Services Addictions and Mental Health

The Driver will assist in transporting clients to appointments, social / recreational events and vocational programs using a van owned or leased by Lanark Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health. They will work closely with the Transportation Coordinator who will provide the driver with a daily list of which clients need to be transported and the location of where the clients need to picked up and dropped off.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Drive clients to medical appointments, social/recreational events and vocational programs
  • Listen to all comments of clients, as well as concerns and opinions clients may have
  • Provide an understanding, empathetic and non-judgmental environment while driving the client to and from appointments and various events and programs
  • Complete transportation report forms for each and every drive completed
  • Report all maintenance concerns, damage, accidents, to the Transportation Coordinator
  • Complete vehicle safety check prior to picking up a client
  • Safely transport client to locations in a timely, safe and courteous manner
  • Comply with LLGAMH policies and procedures

 

Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Clear drivers abstract for previous three (3) years indicating no Highway Traffic Act convictions or suspensions, no criminal code convictions or suspensions and no loss of demerit points
  • Provide a clear Criminal Reference Check; including the Vulnerable Sector Component
  • Must be over the age of 25
  • Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence, Class ‘G’
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma
  • Must be capable of driving for long periods of time

 

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Mental Health Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ministry of Health and Long Term Care guidelines, PSR Code of Ethics,
  • Excellent knowledge of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville and the County of Lanark and a good knowledge of the cities of Brockville, Gananoque, Kemptville, Prescott, Kingston and Ottawa
  • Ability to work independently and interdependently
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Willingness to be flexible and facilitate change
  • Ability to navigate efficiently
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Display safe and defensive driving techniques and willing to drive in both rural and urban settings.
  • Not subject to any health restrictions that may impair ability to dive safely (vision, hearing, perception, reflexes or taking medication (prescribed or over the counter that may affect driving capabilities)).
